Official vs community MCP servers: how to tell them apart
An official MCP server is published by the company behind the product, for example GitHub or Stripe. In the official MCP Registry, a server under the company's own domain name (like com.stripe/...) has proven it controls that domain. Servers under io.github.username/... are published by individual GitHub accounts.
What we show
On this site, servers from a verified company domain in the MCP Registry have a Verified badge with that domain. Others are marked Community.
Community does not mean bad
Many of the most used servers are community projects. Check the score, the last commit, the licence and the security check on the page before you choose.
Watch out for look-alikes
Several servers can carry a company's name. Compare the publisher, the repository owner and the stars. See official servers.
