How to add MCP servers to Cursor

Add a server

Create or edit ~/.cursor/mcp.json for a server you want in every project, or .cursor/mcp.json in a repo to share it with your team.

For a hosted server, use "url": "https://example.com/mcp" instead of command and args.

Check it works

Open Cursor Settings, find the MCP section and check the server shows a green status and lists its tools. The agent uses MCP tools automatically when they fit the task.
