About skill-manager
Skill Manager manages the skills of the current instance only, inside its skills folder. The assistant runs a bundled Python script to inspect sources, download and safely unpack archives, install skills into a staging area, list installed skills, and remove skills to a trash folder. Sources can be local or uploaded files, SKILL.md files, ZIP or TAR archives, Git or GitHub URLs, SkillHub pages, and plain download URLs. Arbitrary material such as PDFs, Markdown, code, or images can be read and organized into a new skill.
The script limits download and unpack size and file count, rejects path traversal and symbolic links, and never runs code from downloaded packages. Installs deploy skill content but do not mean third-party code has been security audited. Replacing or deleting an existing skill requires explicit user confirmation. The listing is aimed at users who manage AI assistant skills from a chat interface.

Try asking
- Search SkillHub for a skill that helps write meeting notes
- Inspect this GitHub folder and install the skill if it passes
- Turn this PDF guide into a reusable skill for our team
Good to know
- Only manages skills in the current instance's skills folder, not other instances or global skills.
- Newly installed, updated, or removed skills usually take full effect from the next new session.
- Without shell access, URL downloads, safe unpacking, and the SkillHub CLI cannot be completed.
- Installing a skill does not mean its third-party code has passed a security audit.

Alternatives to skill-manager
All alternatives →Use after a Codex or Claude Code feature has been implemented in Qwen Code to run the selected reference agent and Qwen Code under the same scenario, capture HTTP and terminal traces, compare request bodies, tool/function schemas, outputs, and iterate until the reproduced behavior is close enough.
Retune a skill corpus for a new model, measurement-first: mine the run archive for a baseline, establish a noise floor, audit the corpus adversarially, then cut in measured passes until a pre-registered bar clears. Requires a benchmark harness that can A/B two builds of the corpus; refuses without one.
Use when building CLI tools, implementing argument parsing, or adding interactive prompts. Invoke for parsing flags and subcommands, displaying progress bars and spinners, generating bash/zsh/fish completion scripts, CLI design, shell completions, and cross-platform terminal applications using commander, click, typer, or cobra.
Audit or update English SDK documentation against the requested implementation scope.
Creates, optimizes, and iteratively refines agent prompts, system prompts, developer prompts, and reusable prompt templates. Use when asked to improve a prompt, optimize a system prompt, rewrite an agent prompt, tune prompt wording, make a prompt more reliable, port prompts between OpenAI, Claude, or Gemini, or build prompt evals.
Main application building orchestrator. Creates full-stack applications from natural language requests. Determines project type, selects tech stack, coordinates agents.
skill-manager: common questions
Can Skill Manager install a skill from a SkillHub page link?
Yes. A skillhub.cn/skills/namespace/slug URL can be passed directly to inspect or install, and the script parses the namespace and slug.
Will it overwrite an existing skill?

Does it run code from downloaded skills?
No. The source states that it does not execute, import, or source code from downloaded packages.
How do I install skill-manager?
Run the command above to copy the skill into ~/.claude/skills/. Claude Code picks it up automatically.
Is skill-manager free?
