About Context7
Context7 gives a coding agent up-to-date, version-specific documentation and code examples taken from source repositories. The source says it targets outdated answers, hallucinated APIs and generic results for old package versions. It works in two modes. In CLI + Skills mode, it installs a skill that guides the agent to fetch docs with the ctx7 CLI. In MCP mode, it registers a Context7 MCP server so the agent can call documentation tools directly. Users can add a library ID to a prompt to skip library matching, or mention a version to get matching docs. The server is published as @upstash/context7-mcp, and the repository hosts only the MCP server's source code. The project is aimed at developers who use AI coding assistants such as Cursor and Claude Code.
